An introductory class to Deep Tissue Massage techniques provides students with a foundational understanding of how to work with the deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. This course covers the principles of applying slow, focused pressure to release chronic tension, improve mobility, and address areas of muscular restriction. Students will learn basic techniques such as stripping and friction, while also gaining awareness of proper body mechanics to protect themselves during treatment. Designed for beginners, the class emphasizes safety, client communication, and building confidence in applying deeper pressure effectively and comfortably.

In this interactive hands-on BASIC Introductory class, you will learn:

1. Description of the Modality

2. Account of its historical development

3. Benefits & Contraindications

4. Specific techniques for basic training

Please wear comfortable flexible clothing. Bring a set of sheets, pillowcase or face cradle cover, blanket, and pump bottle with your preferred lotion or cream.

Certificates of completion will be issued at the end of the class. Please use the name you want on your certificate when you register.

You Do NOT need to bring a table, we have plenty!

This class will be with current massage students at the WIofCC however only licensed massage therapists will earn continuing education credits.
